Water Authority: 20,000 liters of fuel entered the Gaza Strip

Ramallah – Ma’an – Head of the Water Authority, Mazen Ghoneim, confirmed that today, Monday, new quantities of fuel necessary to operate water wells and main sewage stations in Gaza and North Gaza were introduced, amounting to 20 thousand liters, which were distributed to 23 water wells (8 in Gaza City, 9 In the city of Jabalia and its camp, 4 in Beit Lahia, and 2 in Beit Hanoun).

He added that fuel was also distributed to four sewage stations: Birkat al-Sheikh Radwan, Birkat Abu Rashid, Asqoula, and al-Baqara, to ensure their continued operation and prevent sewage overflow in densely populated areas. Ghoneim explained that there is great difficulty in securing the necessary fuel, in light of the continued aggression and the prevention of the entry of the necessary basic materials, stressing, ‘We are making continuous efforts to secure fuel and ensure the operation of a number of wells and basic sewage pumping stations, to ensure the provision of water and sewage service at the minimum required.’ ‘And enabli
ng our people to remain in their places of residence and establishing themselves on the ground.’

He also stressed that work is also continuing to operate sewage stations to drain wastewater and prevent it from flowing among citizens, especially in crowded areas.

Ghoneim stressed the need for all parties to cooperate in providing sufficient fuel to operate the necessary facilities and to ensure the continued operation of wells and stations, especially with the onset of the summer season and the rise in temperatures, which results in an increase in the demand for water, which has been subjected to a severe shortage, due to the destruction of a large part of the water and sanitation facilities. .
