Sheikh Naim Qassem, Deputy Secretary General of Lebanese Hezbollah Party, has underlined the importance of Syria’s return to the Arab League and the participation of President Bashar al-Assad in Jeddah Summit due to Syria’s key role in the region.

“If President Bashar al-Assad hadn’t gone to the Arab Summit, it would have been an ordinary summit and not of interest, and this means that the role and position of Syria and its presence and confronting conspiracies against it is a major role that cannot be dispensed with,” Qassem said during a party in Bekaa region on Saturday.

He added “All the conspiracies that have targeted Syria for 13 years with the aim to destroy it, and to change its political stance have completely failed and we are facing a new phase.”

Qassem continued, “We affirm once again that rights must always triumph, and we will always support the rights,” reaffirming that the resistance has proven once again that it can change the equation and impose its conditions in the region.

For his part, former Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Ambassador Hussein Haridi, said that President Bashar al-Assad’s speech at the Arab Summit on Friday in Jeddah yesterday touched on Arab reality and highlighted the challenges facing the Arab nation.

“What President al-Assad put forward about the need to stop foreign interference in Arab affairs is unanimous among Arab leaders,” Haridi said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Cairo.

He pointed to the warm welcome that Syria received during its participation in the activities of the Arab Summit.

Haridi added, “There is a state of Arab optimism about the Syrian presence towards finding solutions to the crises the region is experiencing, away from foreign interference.”

Governor of Hasaka Dr. Louie Sayoh, discussed Sunday with head of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Syria, Christophe Martin, the situation of drinking water in the governorate, and the necessity of ongoing cooperation to supply people with water.

Sayoh noted that the governorate continued to cooperate with the office of ICRC in order to increase the projects that would alleviate from the suffering of people resulted by the unjust siege imposed on Syria.

For his part, Director of Hasaka Water Establishment, Mahmoud Okla, stressed the importance of cooperation with international organizations during the current period due to the drinking water needs of the governorate.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today returned to Bahrain, after leading the kingdom’s delegation to the 32nd Arab Summit, held in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Earlier today, HM King Hamad left the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

Arab, GCC and international media outlets have focused on the keynote speech delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the 32nd Arab Summit, which was held in the Saudi city of Jeddah yesterday.

While addressing the pan-Arab summit, HM the King stressed the need to preserve the legitimate rights of Egypt and Sudan in the waters of the Nile River, confirming Bahrain’s principled stance towards this issue, and firm approach in supporting the just causes of the Arab and Islamic nations.

In this regard, the Cairo-based “Al-Ahram” newspaper highlighted HM the King’s assertion of Egypt’s historical right to the Nile river waters, and support for the Palestinian cause, through HM’s call for carrying on the peace process in a way that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, according to the two-state solution.

The same newspaper also paid attention to HM the King’s call to achieve Arab integration, consolidate the just peace process for the sake of the region’s stability, and back Arab endeavours to form a balanced world order.

The El-Youm El-Sabe newspaper highlighted HM King Hamad’s call for protecting the legitimate Arab rights and enhancing intra-Arab reconciliation in order to carry on achieving the goals of joint Arab action, in a way that would optimise common gains at all levels.

The website of the Al-Qahera News TV also shed light on HM the King’s call for achieving Arab integration, welcoming of the ongoing Arab efforts to establish a balanced regional order, and the return of Syria to the Arab League, as well as confirmation of Egypt’s Nile River water rights.

Saudi “Al Youm” newspaper also covered the royal speech at the 32nd Arab Summit. It focused on HM the King’s confirmation of Egypt’s water rights, and call for stepping up joint Arab action with more determination and solidarity to establish stability and harmony that Arab peoples must enjoy.

In the same context, “Russia Today”, the international news website analysed the royal speech from various dimensions, highlighting HM the King’s stances calling for ending wars, achieving peace and reinstating security and peace so that the world regains its economic and environmental recovery.

The “Al Arab Al Yawm” news website focused on HM the King’s call for strengthening the pillars of joint Arab action, in light of efforts to form a new balanced regional order, as reflected in the resumption of the Saudi-Iranian diplomatic relations, the continuity of the humanitarian truce in Yemen and the return of Syria to the Arab League.

Other Arab media outlets and news websites also dealt with the lofty royal speech from various angles, given the comprehensive visions it contained for the various conditions of the Arab region, and the solutions and initiatives it presented in order to strengthen the joint Arab action and solidarity to consolidate peace, stability and prosperity for the Arab peoples.

They indicated that HM King Hamad’s announcement of the kingdom’s hosting of the 33rd Arab Summit embodies the royal strong belief in the importance of consolidating Arab joint action towards more cooperation and complementarity for the best interests of Arab world.

As part of the Saudi Relief Air Bridge to help the Sudanese people, the sixth Saudi relief plane departed from Riyadh-based King Khalid International Airport today for Port Sudan International Airport laden with 30 tons of food baskets and medical materials.

According to SPA, the relief aid, sent by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) to help the Sudanese people, comes in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and those of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Following several preparatory meetings, the works of 32nd round of Council of the Arab League on the level of Summit kicks off on Friday in presence of 15 Leaders, Presidents, Kings and Princes of the Arab Countries, according to SANA correspondent in Jeddah.

Before the start of the meeting, the Presidents and Leaders will meet at 02:00 o’clock to take the collective photo.

The opening session of the summit meeting will be public. It will include a speech by Algeria, then the presidency of the session will be handed over to Saudi Arabia to deliver its speech and chair the session. This will be followed by a speech by the Arab League Secretary-General.

The session will also include speeches by the UN Secretary General, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission and the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union.

According to the program, the Arab leaders will deliver their speeches, followed by a closed working session to discuss and adopt the draft agenda, the draft resolutions tabled, and the draft declaration of the summit.

President Bashar al-Assad met on Friday Tunisian President Kais bin Said on the sidelines of his participation in the Arab Summit which starts its works in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

The two Presidents discussed the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two brotherly countries in various domains.

During the meeting, President al-Assad welcomed the return of normal and historical relations between Syria and Tunisia, hailing the necessity of enhancing these relations not only on the political and economic levels, but also on the cultural, intellectual and popular levels.

President al-Assad also pointed out that the officials and ambassadors of the two countries have a lot of work to do for setting a joint plan to move on the Arab and international arenas.

President al-Assad stressed that “Syria and Tunisia stand together against the obscurantist ideology, as they share an issue of intellect, consciousness and belonging, which is targeted by the outside,” asserting that the Arabs are the sons of one nation and are connected to one belonging, which the other peoples lack.

During the meeting, the Tunisian President said “You are our brothers, and what hurts you hurts us, Syria is our country and there were many Tunisians who resorted to Syria during the period of the French colonial,” asserting that Syria’s relations with the countries of the Maghreb has always been excellent.

President Said expressed his country’s great satisfactions towards what Syria had achieved in its war against terrorism and preventing the foreign intervention, saying “the goal was to divide Syria into entities, but the Syrian people had never accepted the interference in their affairs and showed that they are sovereign when it comes to making their decisions.”

In a statement to Tunisian El Watania TV. Channel, President al-Assad said “although of all the circumstances Tunisia has witnessed, the states of genuine popular orientation towards the crisis in Syria have been demonstrated… Jeddah Summit is very important to enhance the Arab joint action.”

President al-Assad added that during the war, the main point was to distinguish between the official and popular stances towards the war in Syria. In fact, we were in Tunisia despite of all the circumstances, Tunisia has experienced during the past decade and a half, states of genuine popular orientation have been appeared, now, following my meeting with His Excellency President Kais bin Said, I say that I have made sure of this, although it is certain, but further confirmation is always needed”.

The Arab people in general have not changed, while Tunisia in particular has great importance because it was used as one of the platforms or to manifest it as one of the conspiring platforms, not only against Syria, but also against the Arab intellect and Arab belonging, the President went on to say.

A delegation representing the People’s Assembly participated in the meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development, in the Bahraini capital, Manama, upon the invitation of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

About 23 Asian parliaments from member States participated in the meeting that was held over the past two days.

During the meeting eight draft resolutions were discussed, including the establishment of an Asian energy market, ensuring growth efforts, the environmental issues and poverty eradication.

The meeting also discussed the role of Asian parliaments in the implementation of sustainable development goals and the adopting a road map to stimulate green finance, the Asian climate finance initiative and the providing water and sanitation service for all in Asia.

The delegation of the People’s Assembly affirmed that Syria is at steady pace towards achieving the goals of sustainable development, including eradicating poverty while preserving the environment.

The delegation noted that the terrorist war against Syria, its repercussions, in addition to the economic siege and unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people by the US and Western countries and the devastating earthquake disaster that struck a number of Syrian provinces recently have double effects that negatively affect the efforts exerted by the Syrian State in this regard.

The delegation highly appreciated the humanitarian stances of brotherly and friendly countries that provide urgent humanitarian aid to the Syrian people, to mitigate the repercussions of the earthquake effects.

With the participation of President Bashar al-Assad, works of the 32nd session of the Arab Summit started on Friday in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

Crown Prince, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Emir Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud, welcomed president al-Assad, Presidents and heads of the participant delegations upon arrival at the Arab Summit meeting Hall.

Algerian Prime Minister, Ayman bin Abdulrahman , said that it is very important to boost the Arab solidarity to have an active Arab role in the international new balances.

“The motto of reunification has been embodied by Syria’s return to the Arab league among its brotherly countries,” Abdulrahman said.

Prince Mohammad bin Salman, in turn, said “We will not allow to turn our region into a field of conflicts, and we call for folding the page of the past.”

He added “We are glad today with the presence of President al-Assad and we hope the return of Syria to the Arab league would help boost its security and stability.”

For his part, Secretary General of the Arab league, Ahmad Abul Gheit, called for making Jeddah summit an Arab solution that stops bloodshed in Sudan and ends crises in the Arab states.

He also welcomed the presence of President al-Assad in the Arab Summit, saying “It is an opportunity to address the crisis in the country politically.”

Abdullah II, in turn, said “Today, we welcome Syria’s return to the Arab League as an important step that we hope will contribute to efforts to end the crisis, and we stress the importance of strengthening the political track and Arab efforts to resolve the crisis and address its repercussions.”

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi underlined that Syria’s return to the Arab League serves as the activation of action for the Arab role and the beginning of an Arab march to resolve the crisis in the country.

King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa welcomed the return of the brotherly Syria to the Great Arab House.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas: said “We welcome President Bashar al-Assad, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, a dear brother among his family and brothers.”

President Abbas added that the tragedy of the Palestinian people has been continuing since the Nakba in 1948 as the Israeli occupation continues its crimes and the expansion of settlement operationsm calling on the international community to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes and to implement United Nations resolutions regarding the Palestinian cause.

Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Mohamed condemned the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people, and reiterated support for their right to establish their independent state in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions.

“I commend Syria’s return to the Arab league and hope that it will regain its pivotal and historic role in promoting joint Arab action. I also welcome His Excellency President Bashar Al-Assad,” he said.

Tunisian President Kais bin Said said “We thank God for Syria’s return to the Arab League after the plots aimed at dividing it were thwarted.”

President of Djibouti Ismaïl Omar Guelleh also welcomed the return of the brotherly Syria to the Arab League, describing that as an important step to boost the joint Arab action.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said “ We welcome Syria’s return to the Arab League to play its historic role in various Arab issues.

The Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, said in his speech: We welcome the return of Syria to the Arab League, and we hope that it will be a starting point for ending the crisis in it, and we affirm our firm stance on the need to work in order to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people.

The Kuwaiti Crown Prince added: We reject any external interference in Syria’s internal affairs and affirm our position on the need to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

For his part, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani said in his speech: “I welcome Syria’s return to its normal place in the Arab League, a step we have supported from the beginning”.

Head of the Lebanese caretaker government, Najib Mikati, said in his speech: “We appreciate the return of sister Syria to play its full role in the League of Arab States”.

Omani Deputy Prime Minister Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said said in his speech: “We welcome the resumption of the active participation of the brotherly Syrian Arab Republic in the work of the Arab League, and we express our satisfaction with the participation of His Excellency President Bashar al-Assad at the summit with complete certainty that Syria will regain its place as an Arab beacon”.

The Omani Deputy Prime Minister added: “Preserving and developing the Arab League will boost the development of cooperation between our countries in the interest of their peoples”.

Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi , said in his speech: “The necessity of implementing a road map to solve the crisis in Libya through dialogue and ending the division in a way that preserves State institutions”.

The Special Envoy of the President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Ambassador Dafallah Haj Ali, said: “We welcome the return of Syria to the Arab League, and Sudan has been calling for the return of Syria to the House of Arabs and has been keen to continue its diplomatic relations with it”.

Works of the 32nd session of the Arab Summit was concluded and its decisions were adopted.

President Bashar al-Assad met on Friday Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President of UAE, Head of the Emirati delegation participating in the 32nd Arab Summit in Jeddah.

President al-Assad discussed with Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed the close bilateral relations between Syria and the United Arab Emirates and means of enhancing the joint Arab action.

In turn, Sheikh Mansour conveyed to President al-Assad, greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
